Our Marble Invitation set came by the way of the Japanese art of Marbling called Suminagashi.
As you may have read in the last post, my interest in Japanese culture and art is ingrained in my upbringing and influences my design aesthetic.
I took at class in Suminagashi at the Chicago Botanic Garden, a great place to learn, reflect and take in the best of the botanic beauty our area offers.
Suminagashi means floating ink, and a combination of a touch of ink, photo flo, and a bit of restraint and patience can result in simple and organic patterns. I'm no expert, but I did have fun learning and using the results in the Marble Invitation Set we just launched as part of the California Collection in our Ready Made Invitation Collection.
