Our nation is divided, the pandemic is worse than ever. It may be difficult for those that are struggling to find their next meal to resonate with celebrations and wins right now; with so much hanging in the balance, I felt it was important to share my company's belief system and how we represent those values within the (small) platform and choice that we are privileged to empower.
This may inspire you to reflect on why you support the companies you do, or maybe it won't resonate. You can choose to unfollow whomever you wish, as I have done with so many brands that failed to address and speak up for racial justice these last few months. Either way, I appreciate you listening.
We believe that all people should be given opportunities to thrive, and nourishing that where it begins - at home. Our vast world's realities are deeply inequitable, and giving special awareness, resources, and voice to those that weren't born into privilege is important. The fact that I even have a platform to write this means I have so much: freedom of speech, (including electricity, internet, and a laptop), a safe home, choice, education, food and water; all things that many people on this planet do not have access to. I feel it's important to use that privilege with responsibility. So when I do share new products and ideas with you, it's keeping these 3 values as our guiding principles.
This encompasses so much to me and expands upon and also inhabits collaboration and connection (previous company values). Using empathy, we learn and listen so that we may represent what is inherently important to you, and your identity. That's how we are able to create products that contain your unique point of view, because we care about your stories, while giving back to communities that need your support with our Patterns with Purpose initiative.
Creating items that contain your stories, ones that are worthy of being held on to. From wedding invitations made with fine cotton stock, to the embroidered linen handkerchief receiving your father's tears of joy on the day, to the textured ceramics that connects you to a cause. These things are important to us, and serve as a connection to the people, places, and moments that matter most in our lives.
We care for the future by giving special attention to what we make, not only in its intention, but how it is made, with natural fine materials that are crafted by hand and with care for the earth, working in collaboration with independent, women, and family owned vendors. Respecting these materials and where they come from, honoring the process, from inspiration to your home.
