Wallpaper Hanging Instructions
(NOTE: We recommend using a professional wall hanger)
- Before installation, examine rolls for color and consistency. Pre-plan your installation by laying out strips, allowing 4-5” overlap in height, keeping aware of pattern repeat as you go. For dark colored grounds, it may be advised to paint the wall and/or the edges of the paper a dark color to alleviate white seams showing. Discuss this with your installer before installation.
- All surfaces must be clean, dry, smooth, and free of mold. Sand any imperfections and remove previous wall coverings.
- Use a professional grade paste intended for wallpaper only. Do not use other adhesives.
- Roll paste onto back side of paper.
- Bookend the strips (fold ends onto each other without creasing) leave for 5-10 minutes for paste to cure.
- Use a level to determine plumb line for first strip. Unfold top of roll and place it on the wall starting from the top. Once in place, unfold the bottom part of roll. Using broad, smooth strokes, work excess paste and air from center out left and right until panel is smooth. Use a wall covering brush or a plastic scraper to gently smooth the wallpaper onto the wall.
- Repeat process with consecutive panels, lining up the pattern as you go. Butt edges tightly at the pattern match without overlapping. Cut excess ceiling and floor cuts before moving on to the next panel.
- Wash off excess paste from face of wallpaper as you hang with a wet sponge. Keep sponge clean while working, rinsing out excess paste after each use. Blot dry if needed. No scrubbing, abrasive, or solvent cleaners.
- Use seam rollers to make sure seams bond well.
- After installation is complete, minor blisters may be present. As wallpaper cures it will tighten and pull taught any minor blisters. Don’t try to press them down with your finger but allow 7 days for adhesive to fully cure.
