a huge influence in my designs and aesthetic is japanese culture. many people don't realize that i was raised in a japanese american church in california. many of our friends were nisei and sansei, or second and third generation, born of japanese immigrants. This meant lots of sushi, rice and a general understanding of the simple, quiet culture of the japanese aesthetic. this is why i was so excited to find aiko's art materials when i moved to chicago. one of my great dreams is to go to japan someday. but the japanese garden at chicago's botanic gardens will have to do until then.
These and my love of nature definitely influence most of my designs, especially this new one from the couture correspondence collection.
This is a really interesting bit about your background. Explains alot about your style and aesthetic.
