Envelope Liners

Any of you long-time readers will remember that I think an envelope liner is essential. To me, the envelope is just naked without it. And, since it is the recipient's first impression of their letter or invitation once they open the envelope, I like coming up with different ways to bring life into your invitation suite. It looks like most of your lining is on a gummed envelope – I’ve always had trouble with lining an outer because it is often destroyed upon opening. Do you have any thoughts on how to preserve the liner (other than using an inner)?

You’re right- most of my brides opt out of using inner envelopes, which is where the lining would be better suited. There’s not much to do beyond sending instructions on how to open the envelope, but I do take pleasure in the thought that not many people own letter openers these days, so the envelope would be opened from the gum, preserving the lining.
