Well, my mini vacation didn't quite go as expected. With the boys downstate visiting their grandparents, I had visions of full days spent lounging at the beach, ruminating on the business-it's strengths, weaknesses, and exciting things to come. But, and I'm not complaining!, I had too much work to do this. I did have a few breaks this week, and was able to enjoy lunch outdoors at Cafe Selamarie with Jennaea, and Spacca Napoli with Stacey. So, Saturday, after my morning consultation, I hightailed it to my favorite beach in Chicago. Columbia Street, in Rogers Park, dead ends right at the water, and because it's off the beaten path, it is usually pretty quiet, with families and Loyola students. Today, though it seemed unusually vacant. Even better, as I was able to enjoy the space, and view, from my beach chair.
It was hot, and the sky filled with beautiful clouds, and the water was warm enough and clear. So I floated, and languishly swam, letting the water wash over me.
Maybe this was the reason for the empty beach. The blue left in the sky got smaller and smaller as I sat watching, the black clouds moving east to fill it.
I felt lucky that I had my hour at the beach, just doing nothing. It was exactly what I needed.
wow. Gorgeous clouds. So dramatic.
