You've all heard that the invitation sets the tone for the entire wedding, I'm sure. But how do you even decide what the tone is? With so many options out there, figuring out your wedding style can feel as confusing as trying to pick a paint for your walls. With so many choices, where to begin? Maybe it doesn't have to be (so) overwhelming. Here are some tips for figuring out what your wedding vibe might be.
1. Take cues from how you entertain:
Of course, your wedding will likely be the biggest and most formal party you ever throw so it will be different than a casual night in with friends. However, you can take cues from your entertaining style to help guide some of these choices.
Do you love having people over for game night? Then inserting this aspect into your wedding design could look like: an actual game in the welcome box for your guests, incorporating playful details like D + A's watercolor toile envelope liner, and using the artwork to insert whimsical details into this style I'm calling Tradition with a Twist.
Maybe you gravitate outdoors when the weather hits 60 and above. Then a Garden Wedding or Nature-Inspired decor could be right for you.
Maybe you're a hopeless romantic who loves a cozy night in by the fire with Withering Heights open on your lap. Then a Vintage + Romantic Wedding Style might be right for you.

2. Pin with Purpose
Only pin things you're emotionally drawn to. With all the suggestions Pinterest offers, it can be easy to add, add, add to your board and then, you're back where you started, with an overwhelming amount of options. This happened to me when I was trying to figure out what my bathroom should look like. My Pinterest board was all over the place: from Japanese Spa, to Rustic Ranch, to Simple and Serene. It turned out I just had to take inspiration from my favorite hotel, and choose 1-2 vintage pieces to let it look like it fit in with the age of the home. Same idea can work for your pinning. You can start with images that only really give you a body response (like a tingle in your stomach or a smile on your face) and then take a look at what starts to come together. 3. Use your venue as a guide
It may be that your venue is set; maybe you're using your parents home, or have had your venue booked for months and haven't made moves on booking other vendors because you're stuck on the overall vision. Either way, this is a great way to narrow down the choices to start to pull a look together, which will make the millions of decisions that you have to make so much easier.
For example, if your venue is a old world hotel, a formal and traditional theme for your wedding could work wonders. Vintage lace, classic calligraphy, candelabras, and a large tiered wedding cake would look beautiful here.
